The accommodations at North River are housed in two distinctive, historic homes, each in its own setting on this one-hundred acre estate. Our historic Virginia retreat includes Creek House and Toddsbury Cottage. Additionally, the free-standing, two-story dependency, Toddsbury Guest House, which sleeps two people, may be added to either a Creek House or Cottage rental. All are on the water, at the ends of private lanes, with exquisite views and river access. Every room has its own ambiance and appeal, with luxurious linens and appointments, exquisite 18th and 19th century family antiques, private baths, air conditioning, and telephones. Families Welcome

At North River we welcome families. Come enjoy a retreat with your children, with activities that recall an earlier time: fishing, crabbing, canoeing, walking, reading books and playing games. Daylong excursions to America’s “Historic Triangle” of Williamsburg, Yorktown, Jamestown, the historic Northern Neck or the family fun centers of Busch Gardens and Water Country USA are all easily accomplished from North River. Creek House

Originally designed by renowned preservation architect Thomas Waterman, Creek House is patterned after British colonial homes in the West Indies. Tall French doors open onto the tidal creek, bordered by an inviting brick terrace and charming walk accented with flowering trees. Creek House, the largest of the two vacation homes at North River, houses four and one- half bedrooms and four and one-half baths. This beautiful home features tray ceilings in the formal living-dining room and in the master bedroom, a second large dining room suitable for workshop meetings, and an upstairs sitting area. Toddsbury Cottage

Toddsbury Cottage offers you elegant accommodations with privacy and comfort, perfect for a honeymoon or a romantic getaway. The salt-box style house features brick-floored front and back screened porches, overlooking our horse pastures and the North River. Toddsbury Guest House

An exquisite gem, our Guest House gives you the opportunity to accommodate two additional guests in your party. An exceptionally elegant private retreat., the Guest House features a ground-floor richly appointed sitting room with oriental rugs, floor-to-ceiling bookcases, and a glowing fireplace. Upstairs, a tall-post canopied bed and second fireplace decorate the bedroom overlooking the North River. The Guest House sleeps two people.

Advanced Reservations

Advance reservations are required. We also require a three-night minimum stay. House rates are subject to change without notice, and are exclusive of tax and cleaning fee.

Deposits

A deposit of twenty-five percent of the total charges is required at the time of reservation. Guests may use credit card (VISA or MC), Traveler’s Cheques, or personal check (the latter must be received within seven days of reservation). We also require a refundable damage deposit of $200.00 for stays over three days.

Cancellation Policy

For cancellations prior to three weeks of arrival date, we will refund the twenty-five percent deposit in full, less a $25.00 handling fee. For cancellations under three weeks, we will charge for the whole stay, and also issue a gift certificate for the same amount, good for use within a year.
